Successful Digital Transformation within Government

Every year over 1.8 million practical driving tests are conducted in the UK. This entirely paper-based service had seen little change in over 25 years and was in desperate need of modernisation. But with a user base reluctant to change and new to the technology, how can you bring everyone along successfully with digital transformation?

Paul Bailey is Head of Design for SPARCK, father of four and co-host of NottsTechfast. He’s been designing digital products and services for over 20 years and has co-created innovative solutions for some of the UK’s largest organisations and government departments. Over the last two years, as part of a multi-agency, co-located team, Paul has been on a Human-Centred Design journey - to digitise and improve and the UK’s Driving Test Experience.

In his talk, Paul will share his many insights, including;

Why focused user research, co-creation and continuous user engagement is the shortest route to delivering innovation

What you need to do to pass a Government Digital Services Assessment successfully.

How Human-Centred Design adds ‘Oomph!’ to Agile and empowers teams to stay laser focussed on user needs whilst delivering outcomes at pace

And of course, Paul will explain how to design ‘for blind dinosaurs with sausage fingers.’

Please join us online on Tuesday 30th March at 7pm for what is sure to be an interesting and informative talk. After the presentation, there will be a Q&A session with plenty of time to socialise and chat online with other Digital Lincoln members.
