Eating an Elephant - Estimating Delivery in an Uncertain World

  • Mosaic Thomas Parker House 13-14 Silver Street, Lincoln UK (map)

Gareth is a professional Agile Coach and CTO of one of the fastest growing EdTech businesses in the UK, bringing engineering best practice to the world of software development.

Originally an Electrical Engineer with a background in Process Control and Lean Manufacturing, Agile felt like the natural way to work as he followed his passion and moved into the world of Software Development.

Through Munci Consulting he is now spreading the message of small batch sizes, continuous improvement and self organisation and has implemented Scrum in diverse industries.

At ScholarPack he has brought Agile practices into the entire organisation, maintaining reliability through a tripling in the customer base with only a minimal increase in team size.

Gareth will talk about how to estimate delivery in an uncertain world. Too often projects fail, or if they succeed, it is through the heroics and midnight oil of the developers involved. Why? Because we saw a fixed goal and failed to understanding that complexity emerges as the problem is better understood.

Is there a better way?

Many people say that Agile removes planning, but nothing can be further from the truth. We will go through what we mean by iterative development, estimating delivery and delivering value sooner.

As well as the talk there will be plenty of time to socialise and catch up with other Digital Lincoln members. This event will take place at Lincoln's new Digital Hub, Mosaic, so we hope you can join us to have a look at this great new space with drinks and pizza provided by our kind sponsors.

Car parking is available on Free School Lane or 2 minutes walk away at Broadgate multistory car park.
